This course focuses on the analysis of spoken and written discourses in a range of academic and professional registers. The application of this knowledge for teaching discourse for academic and professional purposes is included as well. Candidates continue to apply new knowledge and reflect on their teaching, and begin writing their culminating professional project.

This course addresses the knowledge base of first and second language acquisition, including theories of language learning and the factors of individual learning. Learner language and instructor-student interaction are examined as are error correction techniques. Students learn to identify the range of research carried out in SLA through reading research and writing critical evaluations of research on their topics of interest.
