In this course, candidates complete the final project addressing the critical question that they identified. The final project can be a review of the literature, materials development, classroom-based research, a text analysis or some other kind of professional project related to language or culture. The project should be of significant personal interest and of publishable quality.

This course addresses areas of phonetics and phonology that English language teachers need to know in order to assess and respond to learner needs in higher education and professional settings worldwide. It also addresses varieties of English, intelligibility, age, motivation, advocacy and context as they relate to pronunciation. Ideas for integrating pronunciation instruction into various academic and professional curricula are included as well.
