In this course, candidates acquire tools for developing courses tailored to the language and learning needs of their students in a variety of academic and professional settings. They explore the varied components that comprise course design, including needs assessment, setting goals and objectives, and sequencing instruction. Attention is paid not only to language and content, but also the integration of 21st century skills. The course also covers language assessment theory and practice. Candidates learn how to conduct valid and reliable formal and informal assessments, and develop authentic assessment tools for academic and workplace settings. Candidates also complete components of their culminating professional project during this course.
